Below is an overview of what is allowed with a commercial use license:
What You Can Do
- You may use our files to create any kind of physical product as long as it isn't prohibited by other provisions in our terms.
- You may sell items like clothing, mugs, stationery, etc. as long as you produce them yourself. You may not sell this type of product through a print on demand site.
- You may sell your products virtually anywhere including brick and mortar stores, online stores, marketplaces like Etsy.com, craft fairs, etc. One exception is that you may not sell on print on demand sites.
What You Can't Do
- You may not claim our designs as your own.
- You may not transfer, sell, rent, or sublicense your license to others.
- You may not distribute or sell the original or modified versions of the digital files for our designs. This prohibition extends to offering free downloads of our files from a website or distributing them in any way.
- You may not use our designs in logos, branding, and trademarks.
- You may not use our designs in any way that competes with us.
- You may not use designs with print on demand services. This includes Merch by Amazon, Zazzle, and others.
- You may not create, sell, or distribute digital products of any kind. Digital products include graphics, printables, software, ebooks, games, apps, and anything else sold, delivered, or streamed in digital format.
- No government or political use of any kind is permitted regardless of license type.
- You may not reuse images from our website to create product images, social media graphics, ad banners, etc. You must create your own images.
- You may not use our designs in any way that infringes on copyrights or trademarks owned by others. For example, purchasing a license for our football helmet patterns doesn't give you permission to use an NFL team logo. Our licenses don't grant you rights to use third-party copyrights, logos, or trademarks. It is your responsibility to determine if your particular use is allowed by law.
General License Information
- A license applies to only the design for which it was purchased. It doesn't extend to other designs on the site. You need to purchase a separate license for each design you want to use.
- Purchasing a license doesn't grant you exclusive use of our designs. Any of our designs may be licensed to multiple people or companies.
- Designs can be used as is, but we recommend that you modify designs so your product is unique.
Number of Sales
- The number of sales allowed by a license refers to the total items sold. For example, if you purchase a license for a download that includes multiple designs (e.g., a set of clip art), you are allowed to sell up to 1000 products total, not 1000 per design in the set.
- You may sell as many types of products as the sales limit allows as long as total sales don't exceed the limit. For example, if you purchase a license with 1000 sales limit, you may sell as many different products as you want provided you don't go over 1000 total sales. For example, you could sell 1 product 1000 times, 10 products 100 times, or 100 products 10 times.
Licensee
The license is valid for a single person or company (the name associated with the order will be the licensee).
License Length
Your license is valid indefinitely and won't expire. The 1000 sale limit still applies on the Basic license, but we place no restrictions on the time available to reach that limit.
License Proof
Your receipt is proof of purchase of a license. We don't provide a separate document such as a PDF download. We recommend saving and printing the receipt email for your records.
File Downloads
- You won't receive a download link via email for the design associated with your license purchase. You download the files from the download page for the design. This is the same page where you added the license to your cart. We recommend bookmarking this page.
- You are responsible for maintaining your own copy of the files for the design. We recommend using a service like Dropbox or Google Drive to back up your files. We are unable to guarantee future availability of any design or that a design won't change.
Agreement to Terms and Changes
- Your purchase of a license constitutes agreement to our terms.
- We reserve the right to modify or update our terms at any time.
License Types
Below is a brief overview of each license type. Read the rest of this page for more details on what you can and can't do with the designs.
Personal Use License
Our free downloads come with a personal use license. If your use doesn't meet the requirements for this license, you need to buy one of our commercial licenses. Your use is considered personal when the following apply:
- You are creating items for you or your family's use. This might include crafts, household decor, scrapbooking, and other projects. These items must be created by you. Using a third-party service is not permitted.
- You are creating a single gift for a close friend or family member where there is no financial gain. A larger number of gifts will require a Basic license.
- Using the designs for educationl purposes where you don't gain financially from the use of the designs. For example, use in a public (or private) school classroom or bible study is okay, but not a crafting class where you charge money to attend.
- Creating a craft project on your personal, non-commercial website. You may not distribute our files, but we do allow you to link to our download pages if you create a craft or activity that involves one of our designs.
- You don't receive financial gain or compensation from the use. This applies to any money-making activity. If you make money in any way from the design, you need to buy a license. This includes indirect uses tied to money-making-activities such as using the design in marketing materials or decorations.
Even if your use qualifies as personal, you need to credit us as the source of the design in certain situations. You may purchase a Basic license to remove this requirement. Learn how to credit us.
Basic Commercial Use License
- Up to 1000 sales
- No credit required.
Please note that we allow sales of pre-cut shapes, kits, etc. only with the unlimited license. This includes items like wood cutouts, stencils, and other similar items.
Unlimited Commercial Use License
- Sell an unlimited number and type of physical products as long as they comply with our other license terms (e.g., no print on demand or digital products)
- No credit required.
- Sell items like wood cutouts, stencils, and other similar items with this license.
Definitions
A product is a finished physical item that is sold to a customer.
A sale is any item you sell that is made from our designs. If a customer purchases multiple items, each item made with our licensed design(s) counts as a separate sale.
Commercial use is any use where any of the following apply:
- You are making money or receiving other compensation from your use of the designs. This applies whether the use is direct or indirect. If you are using the design in any way that relates to money-making activity, the use is commercial.
- You are promoting a brand, business, product, or service.
- You exceed the limits of our personal use license.
Your Responsibilities
- You are responsible for downloading and maintaining a backup of the files associated with the design. We are unable to guarantee future availability of any specific design or that the design or file formats offered won't change.
- If you purchase a Basic license, you are required to track the number of sales and make sure you don't exceed the 1000 sales limit.
- You are responsible for determining the legality of your intended use. We are unable to offer assistance with legal questions. Learn more
- It is your responsibility to determine whether a design will work for your purpose prior to purchasing a license. We can't guarantee the suitability of any design for a particular purpose. Designs may require additional work including editing, changing file formats, etc. to make them suitable for your purpose. Results can also vary due to materials, different machines, etc.
Support Limitations
Technical Support
Our licensing terms also require you to respect our support limitations. We are unable to provide technical support of any kind. This includes all of the following:
- Basic computing skills (e.g., downloading files, unzipping a ZIP file, etc.)
- Software including design programs, operating systems, and more.
- Physical hardware such as cutting machines, printers
- Any other type of technical support
You are responsible for either already knowing how to use the files or being willing to figure it out on your own. You also agree that you have fully tested files prior to buying a license.
Not only do we not provide support for technical issues, we are not even capable of doing this. There are far too many programs and devices (cutting machines, printers, etc.) for us to know how to help with even a small percentage of issues. We would literally be searching Google for you.
Legality
You agree that you are solely responsible for determining the legality of your use of our designs. We are not responsible for any legal dispute between you and any third parties. Learn more
